FAQ

WHAT DOES INDAGO MEAN?

Indago (pronounced in-dah-go) is Latin for “to research, investigate, or search out.”

WHY WAS INDAGO CREATED?

There is great demand in the industry for trusted and meaningful supply chain market research, but the traditional approach has many shortcomings:

  • Too many unsolicited emails sent to databases of contacts, with little or no consideration to respondent profiles.
  • Surveys that are too long and take too much time to complete, which results in low response rates.
  • Concerns about confidentiality or solicitation. Many industry professionals are hesitant to participate in surveys because they do not want their contact information shared with third parties, which could lead to email or phone solicitations.
  • Limited value or incentives to participate. It usually takes several weeks to receive the research results, and the process is generally one-way — that is, respondents aren’t able to ask their own questions to their peers.

Indago was created to overcome these shortfalls by taking an uncommon approach to market research. We bring together a curated and validated community of supply chain and logistics practitioners who are committed to sharing practical knowledge and advice with each other (via quick and short microsurveys) in a trusted and confidential manner — while giving back to charitable causes that make an extraordinary difference in lives every day.

WHO CAN JOIN THE INDAGO RESEARCH COMMUNITY?

Membership is open to supply chain and logistics practitioners, across all functional roles, from manufacturing, retail, and distribution companies. We qualify each member by confirming their work email address and reviewing their LinkedIn profile (if available). Technology companies, third-party logistics providers, and consultants cannot join our research community, however, they can participate in other ways; see below.

WHAT IS THE COST TO JOIN INDAGO?

For supply chain and logistics practitioners, there is no cost to join the Indago research community. Our community members earn money for every microsurvey they take, which they can apply to a charity of their choice; see below.

WHAT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AS AN INDAGO RESEARCH COMMUNITY MEMBER?

As an Indago research community member, we ask that you provide honest and complete information as part of your profile and provide thoughtful and timely responses to the microsurveys you participate in. You do not have to respond to every microsurvey, but we expect that you take at least one microsurvey per month. The more microsurveys you take, the more value you and your peers in the community will receive in terms of insights delivered and compensation earned.

When you receive an invitation to take a microsurvey via email or text, please make an effort to respond as soon as possible and give thoughtful, clear responses to the questions. We also encourage our community members to submit their own research questions for us to consider and send out as microsurveys on their behalf.

HOW DO I TAKE AN INDAGO MICROSURVEY?

You will receive an email alerting you that a new microsurvey is waiting to be answered. The message will contain a link to the microsurvey. Click on the link, provide your responses, and hit submit. Your account will be credited for answering the microsurvey. Some microsurveys will have a response and/or time limit, so if you try taking a survey and the limit has already been reached, you will not be able to answer it.

HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE TO ANSWER A MICROSURVEY?

Indago microsurveys are typically 1-4 questions long and can be answered in 2 – 5 minutes.

HOW OFTEN WILL I RECEIVE REQUESTS TO TAKE A MICROSURVEY?

The frequency will depend on the focus of each microsurvey and whether the topic aligns with your areas of responsibility, knowledge and experience. We anticipate most members will receive at least one microsurvey invitation per month and no more than four per month.

HOW WILL I BE COMPENSATED WHEN I COMPLETE A MICROSURVEY?

You will earn money every time you answer a microsurvey. Once your balance reaches $25 or more, Indago will donate the earned money to your selected charity or pay you directly via PayPal (please note, the direct pay option is only available to members from the United States at this time). If you choose direct payment, you must have a PayPal account and have the email associated with your PayPal account be the same as your preferred email address in your Indago profile. Adding a mailing address to your PayPal account facilitates the payment process.

WHAT TYPES OF RESEARCH QUESTIONS DO YOU ASK?

Our microsurveys cover a broad spectrum of timely and relevant supply chain and logistics topics, including, but not limited to:

  • Transportation Management
  • Warehousing Management
  • Inventory Management
  • Demand Planning
  • Procurement
  • Sales & Operations Planning
  • Supply Chain Design
  • Supplier Relationship Management
  • Third-Party Logistics/Logistics Outsourcing
  • Trade Compliance
  • Lean/Six Sigma
  • Manufacturing Operations
  • Retail Store Operations
  • E-Commerce/Omni-Channel Fulfillment
  • Emerging Technologies
  • Regulations

HOW ARE THE MICROSURVEY TOPICS AND QUESTIONS DETERMINED?

Our microsurvey topics and questions come from three sources:

  • Indago analysts who want input from practitioners about industry trends and current events.
  • Indago research community members who want to obtain insights and advice from their peers in the community.
  • Technology companies and logistics service providers that are interested in obtaining input and feedback about the market.

In the latter case, third parties only receive aggregate survey results; they do not receive any contact information, such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, company names, etc. of the survey respondents.

ARE MY MICROSURVEY RESPONSES OR CONTACT INFORMATION SHARED WITH OTHERS?

We do not share or report individual microsurvey responses, we only report aggregate survey results. We do not share the contact information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, company names, etc. of our community members with each other or with third parties. The only people who have access to individual survey responses and contact information are Indago analysts and employees.

HOW ARE THE SURVEY RESULTS REPORTED AND SHARED?

Once a microsurvey is closed, the data is tabulated, analyzed, and presented in a research brief, usually available within three days of the survey closing. The brief generally includes a chart or graph for each question, an aggregated profile of the respondents (e.g., % of respondents from different industries), a brief commentary about the results, and comments submitted by the respondents, if any, to add qualitative context. All survey respondents and research community members will be able to download a PDF of the brief via the Indago website. Technology companies and logistics service providers with an Indago subscription will also have access to the survey results and briefs.

Note: Website access is only for members who have responded to at least 10 surveys. Once members respond to 10 surveys, they will receive a userid and password to access the website. Until then, members will receive the survey results via email.

HOW MANY PRACTITIONERS ARE IN THE INDAGO RESEARCH COMMUNITY?

We have more than 100 qualified supply chain and logistics professionals in our research community (as of the end of 2021) and we continue to add members each month.

WHAT IF I WANT TO DONATE TO A CHARITY OTHER THAN THOSE LISTED?

Indago enables members to direct their earnings to one of five charities that represent different causes:

We hope to add more charities in the future. However, if you want to donate to a different charity, we encourage you to receive your earned money from us via PayPal and then donate the amount to your preferred charity directly.

IF I’M A TECHNOLOGY COMPANY OR THIRD-PARTY LOGISTICS PROVIDER, IS THERE A WAY FOR ME TO PARTICIPATE IN INDAGO?

Yes! Although technology vendors and third-party logistics providers cannot be members of our research community, there is a service option where you can contribute survey questions and receive survey results. However, under no circumstances do we share the contact information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, company names of our research community members and survey respondents. Please contact us at research@joinindago.com for additional information.
