Retailers Becoming 3PLs

Today, several large retailers are not just selling clothing and other consumer goods but selling logistics services too. For example, Amazon recently announced a new service called Amazon Warehousing & Distribution; Gap launched a fulfillment service for retailers called GPS Platform Service; Walmart has its Walmart Fulfillment Services and Walmart GoLocal offerings; BJ’s Wholesale Club acquired assets and operations from Burris Logistics; and American Eagle Outfitters acquired Quiet Logistics.
